New Boston Riding Club opens.
January 21, 1892
Architect: Willard Sears. Designed in the Jacobethan style [(Tudor Revival-MHS], it is located at 52 Hemenway Street (120 Norway Street). A private club, it provides its members with riding instruction by Henri de Bussigny, a former French Cavalry officer. The club is dissolved on September 30, 1933, and the building is sold to the New Badminton and Tennis Club in 1934. The riding ring is subsequently converted to tennis courts, but a small number of stables are maintained. The building is subsequently converted to residential use in 1985.*
